Shelby & Michael - from Renters to Owners in Westminster!


Introducing Colorado's new homeowners, Shelby and Michael, high school sweethearts who ventured from the Bay Area to Denver to embrace the great outdoors. Our paths crossed on a sunny March afternoon in the scenic Countryside neighborhood of Westminster. As renters, they had grown fond of the neighborhood and were eager to set roots in this charming community.


They were captivated by the close proximity to Standley Lake and Colorado Hills Open Space, as well as Countryside’s easy access to Wadsworth and Highway 36 for their daily commutes, but what really caught their attention was the offering of single family homes with spacious yards under $500,000.


I knew right away that I wanted to help Shelby and Michael find their dream home. We promptly scheduled time the following week to meet and discuss their goals in greater detail. Over happy hour, I walked them through my buyer presentations and learned that their wish list included a 2-3 bedroom, 2 bathroom single family home with a spacious yard for their pup to enjoy.


By early July we were in full house hunting mode, viewing approximately 22 properties and submitting three offers before securing an incredible home in early September, proving once and again that “the third time is the charm”.



Priced just under $500,000 after a generous $35,000 price drop, Shelby and Michael were quick to seize the opportunity for a tour. It was one of those magical moments when you walk into a home and just know it's "the one." Even if they didn't realize it yet, I knew deep down that this was the house destined to become their home.


While this 1976 two-story home retained a lot of its original character, there were tasteful updates sprinkled throughout, including fresh interior paint, new fixtures, and new flooring on the main level. Boasting just under 2,000 square feet and sitting on an impressive 10,500+ square foot lot, this gem presented exceptional value for under $500,000.



With no other competition, we were able to draft up a buyer-friendly contract and see we were moving through our dates and deadlines. Shelby and Michael received concessions upfront for a rate buy down and the home appraised over the offer price. On top of that, they were awarded additional credits at inspection for the repairs requested.


All in all, they kept $25,000 in their pockets and gained instant equity. Working with this amazing couple was an absolute blessing, and their dedication to achieving their dream, even through personal challenges, was a joy to witness. Shelby and Michael’s journey exemplifies the power of perseverance and teamwork, reinforcing my love for what I do. I am immensely grateful to have been a part of their story.
